Album Notes

The Crossing is Chris Guenther's long awaited 4th release. Guenther's sound has always been a composite of his favorite influences - the Crossing is no different, bringing to the fore-front the embittered sounds of the honky tonk and dance halls of old. The Crossing focuses on Guenther's versatile style and delivery. Whether crooning a solid western ballad like "the Crossing" or soulfully broadcasting "It Shine In Your Eyes", Guenther builds on the foundation that has always worked for him as an artist, genuine emotion from a rural perspective.

Songs such as "She's Not Coming Back" and "Another Wild Night" are quintessential honky tonk anthems, tipping the hat to Johnny Cash and Johnny Horton. "Beginning To Forget" is a solid country ballad, with a visceral country feel, while "When the Smoke Gets In My Eyes" and "Take It Back" reveal Guenther's strong connection to the Bakersfield Sound. The album is capped off with a fiddle instrumental that salutes the legendary Lewis County Washington dance hall, the Plaquato Ballroom, "Playquato Waltz". The Crossing is one more example of Guenther's creative writing, producing, and musicianship.
