Guilty Pleasure was formed by melodic hard rock writers Paul Alfery & Steve Skyler. With Paul laying down the tunes and Steve providing lyrics & melody lines, the duo crafted a hard sound with great hooks to fill a major void in today's music. For those that love good, melodic hard rock but can't find anything new at the stores due to the record company's narrow scope, you've come to the right place. Young & old are going to enjoy Guilty Pleasure. It's so old it's new. You can find additional information at guiltypleasureband.com.
Recorded at Underground Studios for Residential Records in St. Louis, MO (Paul's home base while Steve resides in Los Angeles), the Guilty Pleasure CD looks and sounds as good as anything you'd buy in a store minus depression, sound-alike soul, easy listening, boy bands, new metal angst, or rapping. In addition to producing, Paul handled the guitar, bass, and keyboard work while Steve tackled the lead and backing vocals. The Guilty Pleasure CD also features crack session man Greg Morrow from Nashville on drums and percussion, along with mastering by Brian Foraker. Brian has worked on Kiss, Heart, Whitesnake, and many other melodic hard projects. We thank him for taking our sound to the next level.
Members info:
Steve Skyler's Beatle influence adds melody to harder-edged rock, making a power combo not heard for some time. He feels this music has something for everyone, particularly hard rock lovers long neglected by the industry (rockers who have most of the loot and wouldn't hassle with downloading--just a thought).
Steve says, "Plugs are cheap." He also wanted to be sure it was known he works with a band called AGENT 44 (www.angelfire.com/me4/agent44) As always, please buy the CD if you like the samples to support real rock.
Paul Alfery's masterful, powerful, memorably tasteful and gifted leads truly bring Guilty Pleasure music to life. His ability to write a catchy riff is the backbone of what you hear on the CD. Paul knows his way around the fret board as well as the recording studio, producing a sound that, for the first time, gives these song the showcase they deserve. You are drawn in by the leads as much as you are the songs. The Alfery-Skyler songwriting team has never sounded more dynamic and alive. Paul also brings great bass lines and keyboard backings to the table.
This project has been Paul's labor of love in bringing this CD to fruition. He brought Greg Morrow's flawless drumming into the fray, along with Brian Foraker's mastering, and Tracy G's "grasshoppa" like advice to get to the end result, that and a few late nights and self-enforced deadlines.

Real cool sound and I love the songs, & the production..well done. Your vocalist reminds me a little of Eric Martins work with Mr. Big! Powerfull guitars & solid bass work. 1980's style hard rock will never die and this keeps the flag flying for quality hard rock...Good luck to you all!
