Album Notes

"Sexy, funky-as-hell, pop music!", is what critics are saying about Gurufish. Mesmerizing audiences everywhere with their provocative blend of pop, funk and soul, Gurufish excels at weaving irresistible melodies around hypnotic, funky grooves to give birth to songs that are hooky, sexy and sophisticated. A kaleidoscopic blend of genres, drawing from influences such as Prince, Sly & the Family Stone, The Beatles, Steely Dan, Meshell N'degeocello, David Bowie, Pink Floyd, and hip-hop gives
this multidimensional ensemble a magnetism that makes them appealing to a wide variety of audiences. Songs that sound at once fresh and familiar are served with heavy injections of funk and soul and sprinkled with psychedelic twists, glam rock, and jazz. Gurufish is glitter soul.
Founded by singer/songwriter/producer Jimmy St. James and accompanied by Matty Haze on guitar, Juan Woodfork on bass, Norm Ficke on guitar, sax and keys, Steve Dixon on drums, and Jonathan Lloyd on trombone and percussion, Gurufish makes their home in Atlanta,Ga. Gurufish is currently promoting their album, "Mohair Supreme" and their up coming tour.

Find out what the tease is at the end

If you are tired of what passes for music these days, then take a listen to Mohair Supreme by Gurufish. This is a funky band that has the obvious pop potential with Touch Your Body & Falling In Love, but then hits you with the rockers Supernatural and Pimp St., When you recover from these listen to the funky Funky Queen, Soul Treaty, Underwear & Plush. By this time you are up dancing. If you are really into music, take a listen to Emotion my favorite on the CD. The guitar & strings are alluring & beautiful, accompanied by the smooth as silk vocals. Then there is a love song to remember at the end called Don’t Need a Reason which ends with a tease that is not to be believed and worth buying this CD to find out what it is.
