Introduction & Notes to my latest mini-album: Speak Thru Heart.
I have always enjoyed acoustic music a great deal. The sound of the acoustic guitar is simply sweet. So I decided I would make an acoustic album, subtle and hopefully sophisticated in a good way. The intention was to have the feel of just playing an acoustic guitar and singing, as it would sound if you played for someone, just yourself. Eventually the songs expanded just a bit: I added more guitar and bass to make it sound better and richer, but I think the statement is pretty clear (and in line with the original intention).
I always have the notion of doing something new (new in the sense of not doing the same as before), and I guess that is part of one's progress, search and validation. I am not one who can easily stick to a formula (a specific sound), but rather wan't to try to expand, and so to speak: broaden one's horizons.
These songs were conceived in 2010 and recorded that year (oct/nov). Shortly after they were going through stages of mixing and some add-on recording. Due to the "unspoken" this project was shelved for some time. Some things need to grow in good time!
Anyway, some minor work has been done, but it was finally finished and ready for release in the spring of 2012. Now, this is a sort of stand-alone to my album: Summer Days, Summer Nights EP, but I would rather call it a companion to that album. An acoustic companion without the rockiness.
Intimate - Close - Warm. That is how I would describe Speak Thru Heart in three words.
