An inspired debut album borrowing from a big spectrum of rock, from Marillion to The Police to Michael Penn; the theater of progressive rock condensed into a three minute quote. (Kevin Gilbert anyone ?) think : progressive pop.

if 'progressive pop' existed as a genre this record would probably be best described in that way.
the songs are easy to digest on a first listen basis but reveal themselves better as they are given time.
recorded in single day sessions mostly in Chicago's Gravity Studios by Doug McBride starting in 1995, the album has a freshness that comes from one-take performances and spur of the moment arrangement ideas.
drummer Bill Swartz (Caviar, Fig Dish, Nectarine, The Girls, Ultraswiss) throughout and cellist Eric Remschneider (Smashing Pumpkins, Hole) on 'minus me' are highlights musically.
About the Artist
argentine songwriter Gustavo Lovato's 'love and gravity' CD is his first solo project.
a previous CD 'spill of hope' was released in 1994 with long-time friend Bill Swartz under the band heading of Perfect Mismatch.
Gustavo Lovato also played in Chicago based Fig Dish prior to their debut release 'that's what love songs often do" in 1995.

first i was struck by the production and the mix. it's like the music is inside of a thin glass bubble and you are suspended in the center. then i realized that the playing and arranging were extremely sound and solid. certainly the music draws in many influences, dancing with each genre on their best turns. the threaded concept, that love is more enduring and reliable then gravity, holds true throughout the album. thank you Gustavo Lovato
