Album Notes

Rhythm Central is the first release of the original "groove rock" trio from coastal North Carolina, GUTA (goota). With over 50 original eclectic tunes and many more under development, this is sure to be the first of many CD releases.Based in Northeastern North Carolina, Guta spent 2 years "in the garage" before bringing the 50+ original, tightly arranged tunes to only the best music venues.

To date, the band has toured six states and turned heads and created a buzz at every stop. They will continue to enlarge their touring radius, seeking true "music rooms", festivals and support for national touring bands.

The self produced CD; "Rhythm Central" illustrates the bands influences with flavors of Sublime, Phish, Grateful Dead, Steely Dan, and Van Morrison etc. The groove rock permeates through the disc with splashes of reggae, hip-hop and blues.

Prolific singer-songwriter, Teddy Sablon, fronts the group with a unique vocal style, infectious vibrato and melodic lyrics. His guitar talent is unparalleled as he switches easily from strumming to finger picking to inspired leads while crafting infectious vocals. You must experience his talent to believe it.

Guta co-founder and bassist, P.J. Donahue adds a progressive "bottom" that is inspired by his idols Les Claypool and Victor Wooten. With metronome precision PJ's bass lines are one reason we call it "groove rock".

Drummer Christian "Swine" Mara lays down the beat that moves your feet. Swine's tight percussion, punched with tasty "fills", and the funk that comes from years behind the kit, give this trio a big band sound.

Guta, a breath of fresh air in a stale cookie cutter musical age.

Ever since I first saw Guta @ the Jewish Mother in VA Beach YEARS ago-I've been in love. I used to live in E. City and would never miss a show, but unfortunately have since moved to AZ so I play my CD religiously. You guys need to come to the west coast!!! Keep up the good work, you're on your way to superstardom! The CD is a must-have, I recommend to anyone who loves funky groove rock.
