Bio: George Walters-Sleyon is the founder and director of The Center For Church and Prison, an interdenominational non-profit resource and research center that links The Church with the prison and prisoner (www.churchandprison.org). He is also a doctoral student at Boston University. Apart from the above, he is an author, singer and song writer
His latest book, Locked Up and Locked Down: Multitude Lingers In Limbo is a theological and existential analysis of the high rates of incarceration and detention of black men and youths in the prison system. As a singer, George sings about the power of God to deliver the oppressed and weary. Hold On You will Survive expresses God’s intervention in music. Part of the proceeds goes to support the Center for Abandoned Children and Orphans in Liberia/West Africa.
As a preacher, author and singer, George is available for singing, preaching and speaking on several topics including the Role of the Church in Reducing the high rates of incarceration and recidivism of black men and youths.
