ELEGANT BASTARDS was 2 years old. They just got a new bass player, Richie Poor, & had one demo out already with the previous bass player ( “the making of a bastard “ from 2003). then drummer, A.J. , was getting into recording & building a recording studio in their rehearsal space in north Hollywood, ca. The room was the size of a small living room in a small apt. however they turned out some good stuff for such a room. As you can tell from the first 7 tracks. This was part of the lost 9 song demo, actually there are 2 lost demos, the first decent attempt was a 3 or 4 song one with soundbites in between each song from an old childrens record, the gingerbread man & Other stories. However it was on cassette & was lost with other E.B. Memorabilia that was in a storage unit. The 9 song demo was recorded in a week, it also included 2 cover songs, 138 by the Misfits & 1945 by Social Distortion.( which are not included on this release) . The demo was distributed to a few hands but for the most part, never got an actual release. It eventually was lost after 3 more line up changes. 2006 the newer E.B. Line up ( w/ Gage, Jukin & Blue) recoded there first full length with Former drummer a.j. & his new studio. It included a couple updated versions of songs that were on the lost demo, & newer songs, it was called THRILL KILLER & featured Gypsy Blak's then Girl Friend on the cover with blood soaked cleavage. The full length saw a little distribution, but still not a lot. e.b. Went through one more line up change ( Gage leaving & the adding of Nurse Nancy & Payasa Vampira) until Nov. 2009, when they played there final show @ the Whiskey a go go In Hollywood, then parted ways.
What you hold in your hand is a collection of the best stuff E.B. Did. Including live tracks from their 2007 show @ The Unknown Theater in Hollywood, ca. There was a lot of work put into this music over the years, & thanks to A.J. White & C.P.P. Prod., it can now be re released the way it should have been years ago. SO what does this mean? This is a primer. This lets you know where Gypsy Blak started, & prepares you for what he has coming in the future.
