Replete with dynamic drum instrumentals, their signature all-original gypsy/celtic/cabaret songs and a sprinkling of french vocals as well as English, the CD is an exciting and spirited blend of songs perfectly mirroring The Gypsy Nomads' live show. The duo’s high octane energy is captured in this fun and lively CD.
Euro-American duo Frenchy and the Punk (formerly The Gypsy Nomads), seamlessly combine raucous live guitar looping, cheeky ballads sung in English and French, danceable, modernized old-world inspired melodies and thunderous tribal-march-style drum instrumentals. Get transported to a world full of humor, theatricality, whirling dance and bohemian spirit. Experience their genre-busting non-traditional take on world cabaret with a vaudevillian and steampunk flavor rooted in folk, punk and the vineyards of southern France.
French-born Brit. lead vocalist and percussionist, Samantha Stephenson and American-born punk veteran guitarist Scott Helland of Czech and Portuguese descent, make up this spirited duo. The two powerhouses don't disappoint as they unleash the raw passion of their love for music, dance, and a roaring good time!
Touring incessantly coast to coast since 2005 and racking up over 150 shows a year and four full-length albums and a live DVD, they bring their pulse-poundin' tribute to the free spirit lifestyle to alternative music festivals and steampunk/sci-fi/cabaret conventions across the U.S. They will also be touring in Europe in April 2011.

"At the Carnival Eclectique" gives the listener a broader view of what Helland and Stephenson are capable of.
Percussive duets and whimsical instrumentals contrast with tunes in French and English..."Ian McTroll" is just plain fun, with guitar lines that hark back to Helland's solo work, particularly 2006's "Catapult". The lilting "Spellbound Chariots" would fit in perfectly at a renaissance fair; and the charming "Oh Gypsy" contains a lyrical surprise! Summerland closes the album with celtic yearning.
