Album Notes

Hello Friends, My name is Kurt Hagardorn, and I love to play music. In February 2007 I released this album entitled TEN SINGLES on the Bladen County Records label. I live in Portland Oregon, making music around the region, playing and recording with my band. I used to play in a band called Gumption in Chapel Hill North Carolina in the mid 90's, and before that I played with Brian and the Nightmares. Before I moved to Portland I played guitar for Thad Cockrell and occasionaly Caitlan Cary. I hope you'll take a little time to listen to my music, and if I'm in your town, come out to the show.

I love this record, as it reminds me of the best pop music from the 60s to the 80s.

"10 singles" sounds right

Bought this record initially because a) I saw Kurt play in "the Nightmares" days about 100 times or more; b) heard some of the songs at his myspace site. Upon getting the cd, I must say if I didn't know Kurt from a past life, I'd still buy this record. I was really pleased with maturity of the work and the arrangements are great. (I do not have any problems hearing the vocals on my stereo) You can recognize the nods to his influences, but the tunes belong to Kurt. My wife (a proselytizer at heart) liked it so much she came back and reordered extras to give to our friends here in the Midwest(Lousiville area). I would suggest, before you plunk down $20 plus for a latte and whatever hyper-cool-neo-crap they hawk at starbucks these days, do your self a real favor, buy some black coffee- in a styrofoam cup at the Greyhound Bus Station at 2 am- AND come to cdbaby and get 10 Singles.

Words and sentiment are good and the music fits the sentiment. Often, the music drowns out the voice. The voice has excellent pitch. I found that if I put on the headphones while the speakers were still on, I could then hear the voice much better and recognise what the voice was saying (singing).

Sent a copy to Barb and Drew for their 10th wedding anniversary. Also told Barb's brothers, Dan and Jeff about it. Also dropped off a copy with Wayne Winkler at WETS-FM who remembers you well and was pleased to have it, but had missed the article in the J.C.Press. They're in the middle of a fund drive right now, sooooo .....!
