Steve Haggard's original brand of Genuine American Roots Music encompasses Americana, hard country, blues, folk, rockabilly, and rock 'n' roll, and has earned the artist acclaim both in the USA & abroad. (He has done more than 50 overseas tours.)
"Ain't Life Grand?", however, is a compilation of Steve's country material, culled from his six Wild Oats Records CD releases. The CD is a sort of career overview of Steve's country side, and contains some truly excellent material.
Steve wrote all 12 songs on the album (three are co-writes with Larry Shaw), plays guitar and harmonica, and produced or co-produced all of the tracks.
Writing about "Ain't Life Grand?", reviewer Wildy Haskell said, "Steve Haggard has some great country cookin' going on"; adding, "I suspect that in the late 1970's and early 1980's, he would have been considered a certain future Country Music Hall of Famer."
Whether it's the honky-tonkin' sound of "Home Is Any Honky-Tonk" or the melancholy "Wine And Memories" or the rockin' roadhouse feel of "Give Me One Good reason", if you're a fan of country music with guts and authenticity, you're bound to be impressed by "Ain't Life Grand?"
So give it a listen!
