About the Band -
Hairspray Blues is a fervent rock and roll duo that began as a love interest in 2004 in the dismal woods of Northwestern Pennsylvania. Members are Kyle and Leslie Stabile and they are currently hiding out in Portland, Oregon which suits them just fine. One beautiful man on guitar and one impetuous wife on drums, combining scorching rock and roll riffs with carnal drums will make you want to do the dirty bop.
They glean influence from a multitude of artists and eras to create their image and sound. A few of their influences musical and otherwise are Bruce Springsteen, Elvis & Priscilla, gold teeth, Tori Amos, The Ramones, coal miners, Social Distortion, train travel, graveyards, Motorhead, black coffee, desert highways, and Howlin’ Wolf. By blending current and bygone eras together they create a seamless backdrop for a fierce display of affection.
“You get the feeling that the dynamic duo that converges to create Hairspray Blues have an on-and-off-stage relationship that is two shots XOXO, one shot BFF, and one shot IH8U. Their music is brutal and simple without being simplistic.”

“This Portland two piece plays a dark, brooding kind of broken blues that stalks you like the shadow of Death. Something like Black Sabbath meets The White Stripes, this guitar and drum duo create aggressively simple music. The songs are raw on your nerves and leave you itching for more of those primitive beats and animalistic six string attack. With just the slightest hint of retro-garage-voodoo goodness, this band is deliciously mischievous, like a deep dark secret seething just below the surface, waiting patiently for its moment in the sun.”

The Album -
On a jagged, unmarked road cut through a forest of uniquely American dreams, illuminated only in moonlight filtered around the shadow of a howling coyote, Hairspray Blues careens lovestruck into the unknown; a brilliant, iridescent flash of powder blue muscle car convertible, the constant fight for control of the tinny car stereo audible for miles. The countryside speeds by, slashed through with Doppler-shifted snippets: Chuck Berry. Elvis. Johnny Thunders. Black Sabbath. Motorhead. Their destination is unknown, but one thing is certain: whenever they reach it, there’s going to be one hell of a party.
With a stripped down sound drawing equally from outlaw punk, classic heavy metal and roots rock-n-roll, Sick Little Package hurls listeners into a churning maelstrom of passion, pompadours and pocketknives, wrapped in denim and leather and served ticking loudly with a side of chicken-fried steak.
