Album Notes

"Throw the First Stone" & "Take the Streets" is two E.P.'s on one C.D. It is compiled of songs that the Halfway Crooks have recorded on the side from 2004 thru 2006, showcasing the originality and versatility of this highly talented group of musicians. The first five songs are part of the "Throw the First Stone" EP, which includes a more chill side of the Crooks, while the remaining six are part of the "Take the Streets" EP, which is compiled of colaborations with Faceless Entertainment, amongst others, to bring a sound so unique it could only be the Halfway Crooks. While the Stone tracks are much brighter and laid-back than their high-energy performances, and the Street tracks are heavily hip-hop driven, both groups of songs are great representations of how multi-dimensional this band is.

"Throw the First Stone” & “Take the Streets" is a fun CD of excellent reggae and hip-hop tracks from 2 EPs of the Halfway Crooks. The blend of styles results in an excellent collection of very solid tracks. The production and recording quality are excellent throughout, and the band is tight. Tracks such as “Gimme a Stone” and “Pan2Landscape” have a memorable chorus and an excellent upbeat groove that will get your body moving and remind you of some of UB-40’s finer work. The band sounds equally as good when it takes a more hip-hop style, on tracks such as ”Get Em Up,” “Start Again,” and “Insane.” If you enjoy listening to fun reggae and/or hip-hop music performed by talented musicians, you’ll enjoy this CD.
