Album Notes

TRILOGY by Damir Halilic

TOMMY EMMANUEL says:

\"Hal is wonderful musician and I admire his dedication to the guitar. I wish him success in his career and would like to see him take his music to the rest of the world.\"

\'TRILOGY\' is an extraordinary album. It consists of 36 original songs neatly recorded on 3 individual discs. Each disc highlights a different genre.

Many famous musicians contributed to \'TRILOGY\'s\' brilliance - including several world-renowned Nashville stars.

-Suzy Bogguss (TONIGHT WE DANCE) added her lovely singing voice.

-Legendary guitar ace John Jorgenson (DIO MIO, VELVET) added some guitar magic by doing what he does so well.

- J.D. Blair pitched in on drums, and Charlie Chadwick helped out on bass. Jim Horn (sax), Stuart Duncan (fiddle), and Jamie Hartford (guitar, vocals on SOMETHING WRONG). Mike Farris (vocals on WATCH YOU SLEEP) performed and a bunch of other top-tier professionals participated.

\"Great music doesn\'t come cheap, and cheap music usually doesn\'t sound very good anyway. Dig a little deeper for this one people - you\'ll be glad you did. It\'s that good!\"

-L. Ellison, Houston, TX

Disc 1 best fits the AMERICANA category. It contains healthy doses of acoustic blues, country, rock, blugrass, and jazz. These guitar styles are blended tightly together into the perfect fit.

Disc 2 flaunts Hal\'s \'fingerstyle\' guitar magic. The sound is similiar to that of a Tommy Emmanuel listening experience, yet noticeably different. The contrast is striking, yet subtle. Seek out the differences and then savor them for a long, long time!

The third disc is a sizzling jazz-fusion compilation that deserves to be played over and over and over again. On almost every song, Hal straps on his electric guitar and lets loose like hasn\'t for a long time. HOT! HOTTER!! SCALDING!!!

International listeners should know that \'TRILOGY\' is NOT a recording of Croatian folk music. The majority of the songs are sung in English, however, a few are in Croatian.

This collection boasts nearly three hours of Americana, fingerstyle acoustic, and jazz fusion guitar music that will leave you begging for more.

Like a diamond in the ruff - add this gem to your collection today.

Fan feedback:

\"This is a “must have” album for all lovers of guitar music.\"

-ALAN SMITH, U.K.

\"Do yourself a favor. Invest in some high-octane music that will withstand the test of time. Listen to \'TRILOGY\' a couple of times, and then enjoy it for years to come - it\'s sensational!\"

-Trevor Taylor, Perth, Australia

The resounding success of Damir \'Hal\' Halilic’s third CD, \'INFINITY,\' earned him the opportunity to travel to Nashville, TN to record the bulk of his highly-touted follow-up album, \'TRILOGY.\' Released in August 2006, \'TRILOGY\' was recorded in several cities around the world and is one of Croatia’s most extensive projects to date.

Damir Halilić, more casually known as \'Hal\' (pronounced ‘Hall’ in English), is a professional musician from Rijeka, Croatia. Hal has published four critically-acclaimed albums to date.

Hal has played and collaborated with many of the world’s top guitarists (Tommy Emmanuel, Muriel Anderson, Clive Carroll, John Jorgenson). Over the years, these artists have expressed their deep appreciation for his music and hold his work in high regard.

Over recent years, a great deal of Hal’s music has received airplay on radio stations around the world. At various times, his music has been heard over the airwaves in the United States, Australia, and Europe. This hard-earned recognition came after he performed several stellar live tours abroad.

Most recently, Hal has gained notoriety for his concert-organizing abilities on the Croatian circuit, the crown jewel being his self-named extravaganza, \'Hal’s All-Star Guitar Festival,\' which has become an annual event and created in cooperation with the city government of Rijeka. This year\'s event will take place in April 2007 and will host the likes of Beppe Gambetta, Don Ross, Clive Carroll, and Michael Langer among others.

DID YOU KNOW? Savvy music lovers around the world are shunning the music world\'s tiresome trends. Now more than ever, people are searching out great music, created by actual musicians, and played on real musical instruments, of which the acoustic guitar is arguably the most celebrated. Resist the industry\'s mass-produced, force-fed productions. Be your own trend-setter. Buy \'TRILOGY\' now..you won\'t regret your decision!

Good Buy
author: Kevin K.
-I had the good fortune to discover Hal's music by accident while I was on my vacation in Croatia a few years back. He was playing a gig in a small Irish Pub (in Croatia of all places)and I was wowed. Before going home, I snagged his Infinity cd and was glad I did. When I found out on google that he had a new release on Cdbaby, I ordered it on the spot. It was a no-brainer. The man's guitar tells stories my friends, and it doesn't lie. I love true-blue acoustic guitar playing. I won't say that Hal's live performance was in the class of Tommy E. But his composing is world-class. I can give Trilogy my vote of confidence. There is a lot of bang there for the buck. Peace. K.K. - Chicago

Can't get enough
author: Marko Jurcic, Toronto
By far the best CD I have bought in the last 12 months. I have one of the three discs in my car's disc player at all times. When I get tired of one, I pop in another and a week will pass before I change to a different CD of the set. And so the cycle goes. It has been months since I've listened to any CD other than Trilogy. A tremendous variety of music. Kudos to Hal in Croatia!

Trilogy kicks ass! Rock on!
author: John Paul
On 03/28/07, Damir Halilic [halmusicland@yahoo.com] wrote: Hello John Paul, This is Douglas, manager of Croatian guitarist Damir ‘Hal’ Halilic. I saw on CDBaby.com that you were one of the buyers of Hal’s ‘Trilogy’ CD. Hal and I would like to thank for supporting his music. Did you have a fair chance to listen to the CDs? There is a lot of music there, so please give it time. If you have any constructive feedback, I would be interested in hearing what you think of the entire ‘Trilogy’ project. Thank you once again for your support. Best regards, Damir Halilic and Douglas////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////// On 03/29/2007, John Paul responded: Trilogy kicks ass. Of the $100 worth of CD’s I bought that day, YOURS is the one I listen to most. I play guitar and am into guitar, drums, and music in general. I expected Trilogy to have great licks and creative compilations……and it DOES. I am not at all disappointed. Not being afraid to blur some ‘boundaries’ in pursuit of artist/musical/social harmony is what it is all about. Bravo, Cheerio, and Rock on! My favorite track of the whole bunch is #2, Dio Mio, on disc 3. Track one on CD 1 is a hit too. The recording quality is good…very good. Hal’s picture is one of a partially tortured artist and I can see the hard work and pain in his face from travel, venture, disappointments and successes, and a determination to go on, move on, and Rock On! I like it. The feel of the CD (artwork etc) is comfortable and gives it good continuity. The music itself doesn’t have continuity like that, but because you slide in so many styles here and there, one doesn’t notice that it is a world music kind of compilation. I notice these things, because I am into all kinds of world music too. Disc 2 has great acoustic arrangements. The flamenco track was a nice surprise on CD 3 also (I play that a lot). The smattering of dialogue on CD 3 tracks is refreshing and makes it fun….it leaves you wondering what the heck someone is going to say next. The jokes are funny too. People who are engaged in life and living in an adventurous way are going to love it and probably have told you so already. So just add my input to the list!  Send an itinerary so I know where Hal is playing, etc. I turned his music onto a teacher I know who is going to Croatia this month. There is a lot more I could say about this great buy that I am really into right now, but this will have to do for now because I’ve got to go!! Thank you, J.P. -Wisconsin

Great guitar work....solid from top to bottom
author: Tim Strietor
This CD offers a wide array of guitar playing excellence to say the least. Almost too many styles to absorb all at once. Some songs(4 0r 5) in the different language detracted a little, but the quality of the music more than made up for my not understanding the words. Luckily, most of it is in english and those were superb. Overall, a fantastic musical display. I like it and I would recommend it. T. Strietor, Seattle
