Basic Chicago style blues, but each song is individual and strongly seasoned with every influence from country to funk. There's even a blues samba. The vocal style has been described as "Barry White meets Elvis" but with a wicked sense of humor.

Album Notes

The Hal St. Louis Blues Band is:

Hal St. Louis - Vocals and Saxes
Hal has a vocal range that goes from a feminine falsetto to a rumbling bass growl. He began his musical career "way back before Ike met Tina" in the home town that give him his name, then put it on a long hiatus for a stint in Vietnam with the Seabees and raising a family. He reentered the field of music when his children were grown. "No responsibilites any more - sounds like a musician, doesn't it?"

Sarah Levesque Cirella - Guitar
Sarah always surprises audiences at her first solo. She's just such a pretty little lady that it's a shock to hear all that big mean guitar coming from her. Her musical training began with classical piano before she discovered blues guitar. She MUST have loved it, because she married Dave Cirella (one of the area's premier guitarists) and they now play duets happily ever after.

Steve "Hambone" Gilbert - Bass
Steve lays down a solid unwavering foundation for the band with skills he began honing in 1964 - riding the wave of the British Invasion with successful regional New York bands such as Nobody's Children, Lunatic Fringe, and 5th St. Station. After nearly 10 years of experience, he took a 24-year musical hiatus and reentered the scene as a blues bassist in 1997. He quickly found that his steady bass and trained ear put him in great demand with local bands.

Alan Gutheim - Drums
Alan puts the heartbeat into every song, whether it's a soft purring shuffle or a raging animal pounding. He is also a re-entering musician, having put aside his early musical career for a life of responsibility, he now comes back to music to feed the soul. His experience ranges from swing to rock. That broad base helps contribute to the band's ability to extend their reach from the basic blues/R&B genres to other styles.

There you have it - three retreads and one surprising newcomer. This is a band that's out to have fun and bring you along.
