Album Notes

Carol Hamersma is a versatile multi-faceted artist, well versed in jazz, classical and pop.

As both guitarist and vocalist, she has performed extensively in the metropolitan area leading her own combos.

Employed by the Paul Mann booking agencey, she has been heard at major hotels in Atlantic City, Philadelphia, and Las Vegas, appearing for such dignitaries as Governors Florio and Whitman, Mayor David Dinkins and Donald Trump.

She appeared on the Barron Art Center series "Women in Jazz" and has often been heard at New Jersey jazz clubs Cafe D'Angelico and Trumpets with renowned jazz bassists Steve Gilmore and Marcus McClaurine.

Classical performances have included Montclair Art Museum and the Bruno Walter Auditorium at Lincoln Center.

She has done several New Jersey cable television spots of both classical and jazz, most recently the Comcast Ch57 Steve Ames Show.

She played with the female rock band "She" at CBGB's and played Cami Hall in New York City with the new music group "Eclectix".

She has played for production shows at the Trump Plaza and backed famed Regis Philbin and Kathy Lee Gifford at Caeser's Palace.

She has recently released a new jazz trio CD "Out of MY Head" which includes original material and is joined by Tim Givens on bass (played w/Lou Donaldson) and Nick Scheuble on drums(play w/Winton Marsalis).

The CD has received airplay on WAER(Syracus) WFMU (Teaneck) and was featured during an hour long interview with WNTI's( 91.9 Hackettstown) John Hammel on his "Mozart to Motorhead" show.

Carol was twice a scholarship recipient of the Jazz in July workshops at the University of Massachusets, where she studied with Dr. Billy Taylor and Ted Dunbar.

She has a Bachelor of Music from the Mannes College of Music in classical guitar and a Masters in jazz performance from Queen's College, where she studied arranging and composition with Jimmy Heath. She is currently on the faculty of the County College of Morris and Seton Hall University.
