Album Notes

The New York Times calls vocalist Philip Hamilton's musical style "contemporary and cutting-edge."

This limited edition LP is a cross-section of vocalist Philip Hamilton's musical style.

Originally inspired by the writings of James Baldwin, 'Ezekiel's Wheel' was commissioned Danny Buraczeski's "Jazz Dance" and features Hamilton's captivating vocal style.

The newest "voice" with the Pat Metheny Group, Philip has been a featured artist at the Montreaux, San Sebastian, and Montreal Jazz Festivals, as well as, Brazil's Globo-FM Music Festival and Japan's NHK Music Series.

Called "an unusually energetic and inventive vocalist..." by the Washington Post, Hamilton was a founding member and co-composer of the group Full Circle, which released three albums on Sony/Columbia Records.

He has toured and performed with a wide range of artists including Donald Fagan (Steely Dan), John Cage, the Duke Ellington Orchestra, Special EFX, Phoebe Snow, and Ottmar Leibert.

This music is soooo amazing!

This CD includes a favorite of mine written in "7" time Also Balwin's Blues, which takes such vocal risks! I use PH's music as I teach dance in high school. All the kids love it. It allows me to expose them to something new; at the same time it seems to fit much of the movement they invent.
