Vanessa Handrick provides hard rock with a female pop edge on "A Letter Home to You".
There is a passionate and alluring quality that Vanessa Handrick brings to her brand of today's progressive rock. Vanessa's music not only provides compelling lyrics, but driving electronic grooves, along with creative and interesting melodies that stay with the listener.
Vanessa Handrick's live, full band performances pull the audience in with her energy and intensity, creating an experience that connects her with the audience every time.
Vanessa began singing at the age of seven. Shortly thereafter, she left her parents behind in Houston, Texas and Vanessa moved to New York City. While performing in several off-broadway shows in New York, Vanessa lived with a nanny who previously worked for Rolling Stone magazine and was a rock music enthusiast. Vanessa was soon introduced to her earliest influences, including The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen, Rod Stewart and Alice Cooper. Although Vanessa has ventured off into her own musical styles since then, those early influences lead her from Broadway to rock.
In 1994 Vanessa headed to Nashville to attend college at Belmont University and was soon asked to sing on the Grand Ole Opry. While in college, Vanessa began writing and recording her own music. Meeting up with a new community of musicians, she formed a band called Daisy Chain. For two years Vanessa was the lead singer of the Southeast based band, traveling and playing around the US, including several regional festivals such as the Midwest Regional Music Festival in St. Louis, and the NEA Extravaganza in Nashville. Vanessa also wrote and recorded several EP releases with Daisy Chain.
In 1998 Vanessa wrote, recorded, and released her first solo EP, "Vanessa Handrick". The EP was produced by Grey Garner (of the Capitol Records band Lackey) and has received much attention in both the Southeast and New York City areas. The track "Not the One" has received national radio air play in several markets, and was used to promote Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren in a national radio commercial and in-store video promotion. Music by Vanessa Handrick has also been featured on the WB hit TV show "Dawson's Creek".
In 1998 Vanessa was a finalist in the DiscMakers New York IMWS (Independent Music World Series), a competition and showcase of regional unsigned artists and bands at Tramp's in NYC. Vanessa was also a featured artist at the Digital Club Festival in New York City in 1999. Most recently, Vanessa was #1 on the Billboard Talent Net Web Radio Chart, where she has continued to remain on the chart and was also featured as "artist of the week".

Horrible Me! Never
author: J Alastair Howarth
She is an original songwriter.
But if you must well then Pat Benatar with a small dash of Cher and some Alannah Myles.
Horrible Me is a strange catchy song. All the Answers and That Way are next 2 best tracks.
This is no serious hard rock. My phrase is AOR with VERY clever words and great Guitar Work (Grey Garner her other half).

Awesome! Addictive!
author: Huge And Loyal Fan
V's new CD ROCKS! This is the best I've heard from her! I listen to it over and over and over and over and never grow tired of it. The newest tracks are outstanding and show off her amazing abilities as an artist. The diversity among the tracks is testament to her talent as a song writer, singer and performer.
I used to think that the previous cd, V, was chock-full of hits, but this one overflows! I would be hard pressed to choose a favorite.
