“Illustrated Bird,” the new release by the Hangabouts, drops November 8th. Recorded in fits and starts of several months of work over the course of two years, the album features 13 brand new tracks penned by the Hangabouts. John and Greg, with help from long time friends Josh Touchton and Ken Greene, recorded the songs at Earth Studio, Michigan.

Illustrated Bird is steeped in the sound of acoustic and electric guitars and their favorite 60’s era Lowrey organ. The sessions produced a varied mixture of twee pop, rock and roll and psychedelic flavored passages that seem right at home in a modern setting. Kicking off with the early 70’s soul of “Love Nothing,” the LP switches gears quickly to the slack stringed rock of “Dr Dragon.” The album features upbeat pop (“Forest for the Trees” “November”), would be AM radio hits (“Missing in Action”) and moments of quiet repose (“Illustrated Bird” “Go to Sleep.) Should satisfy fans of pop of all stripes.
