Album Notes

Hanley started playing his folks' upright piano in the late 50's, learning how to play in C, F, and G along with Fats Domino and Jerry Lee Lewis. His friends liked his boogie woogie and some of them went out and bought what today are known as vintage Fender guitars, so HP had to learn how to play in the keys of E, A and B. The new band played instrumentals ala Duane Eddy and The Lively Ones for local teen centers and supermarket openings. Things were going pretty well until the Beatles came along and screwed everything up. Now the band had to start singing and since HP was the only one who could carry a tune he had to dump the rest of the band and find guys who could sing. Forty years later, he's still looking! No seriously, during this period, horns were added and HP learned to play in Eb, Ab and Bb. Now fully armed both white AND black keys to work with, HP embarked on a fun-filled journey, and has amassed close to 10,000 gigs at roughly 250 per year since the early 70's. He has been called everything from "peckerhead" to" the preeminent vocalist of his generation". His latest release, "Dejavoodoo" is some good Doo Doo, and it gives credence to the adage that stories, like fine red wine, get better with age. HP will be appearing at a backyard party in your neighborhood soon, so get there early, before the cops show up and shut it down, and, oh yeah, bring a sixer of Pacifico and have a bound with the rand!
