Album Notes

Beauty through melody. That's the heart and center of 'Of Those Now Gone,' the first disc of solo piano work from Michael Hanna. Struck against a fluid background of rolling chords, stories are played out on black and white, each a lament for that which will never be again. The album is comprised of seven originals and four arrangements of traditional songs, all performed in Michael's passionate style. Smooth and relaxing, his music evokes a peace and a gentle nostalgia, perfect for reflection and meditation.

"The first time I heard Michael's music, I was really moved by it. His beautiful melodies and the incredible expression with which he plays make the music unfold like a sad story...as a visual person, I always value music that paints an interesting picture. 'Of Those Now Gone' really does that."
-Scott Fielder, photographer and director

Recommended: 'Cavendish' or 'Until We Meet Again.'

author: Bill Kleist
As a newcomer to the world of solo piano, I have found that Michael Hanna has a gift that is truly inspired from heaven. 'Of Those Now Gone' has moved me like no other music I have ever heard; I am continually captivated by it each time I listen. Try listening to 'Elizabeth' without a stirring or longing in your spirit. I cannot put into words how this CD has captured something divine only a true artist is capable of. Thanks Michael for sharing your gift!

Tranquillity redefined
author: Scott Ryder
Of Those Now Gone is the absolute best compilation of solo piano music I have ever heard. There's not a single song that doesn't move me and speak to me. It quiets my soul after a long day at the office like nothing else in my collection. Thanks Michael for sharing your extreme talent with the rest of us!

Passionate, beautiful, heart-rendingly tragic.... I especially like track 8
author: Elizabeth
This passionate music makes me want to dance alone in the dark so that nobody can see me crying. Perfect for the stormy night when you find yourself mysteriously trapped inside of an empty abandoned inner-city factory, rusty machinery looming in the corners, red rose petals scattered about in chaotic but somehow meaningful fashion. Or for when you're reading a really good book on the couch with the cat purring on your lap and a mug of raspberry tea steaming at your side. Clearly, Michael Hanna is destined for great things. Buy this CD.
