Todd Hannigan was born in Connecticut, far from the surfing community he has become a part of. At the age of four, Todd and the rest of his family moved to Ventura, California where Todd still lives today. He is a musician who grew up in and was influenced by the Ventura surf culture. Todd has owned and operated his own studio (Brotheryn Studios) for the last ten years working on albums and films in Ojai, CA and in 2005, Todd and his manager started Brotheryn Records which distributed Todd's debut album, Volume 1 and will release Volume 2, "Courtside for the Apocalypse", in November, 2008.
With "Courtside for the Apocalypse", you get an insider's look at Todd's experiences as he explored the world with a guitar in one hand and a surfboard in the other. Through these travels, Todd was inspired to write about love, culture and introspection. The title "Courtside for the Apocalypse" represents a symbolic call to action for people to participate in the world arena, as opposed to being a courtside spectator, watching the politicians run amuck.
Over the years Todd has had his songs included on the soundtracks in a number of award winning surf films, and has also been a music composer for several of these films, such as "Sliding Liberia".
Todd's musical influences include Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan, Elliott Smith, Dire Straits, and Stevie Wonder and says he has been most influenced by Nick Drake "because of his experimentation with tunings and melody."
