Album Notes

Sara Hanson is a writer and performer of honest music who has an affecting voice and an unforgettable stage presence. Pulling from personal experience, emotion and a keen observation of relationships, she has developed a lyrical style that is bold, clever and
beautiful.

Sara is now based in San Diego, by way of Austin, Texas and Santa Fe. While in Austin, Sara played at the famous Ranch 616 on most Sunday nights, where she performed memorable (and popular) covers of country tunes along with her own work. She could also be seen regularly at other clubs and venues around the city.

Before moving to Austin, Sara attended the College of Santa Fe¹s Contemporary Music Program. After graduating as the year¹s Outstanding Senior in 1999, Sara recorded her first CD at Santa Fe¹s Fourth World Studios. That CD, Illusion, was released in July 2000, followed by a western states tour. Her second album, Going Fast, was released in 2003. After college, Sara spent several years collaborating and performing with some of the world-class musicians who call Santa Fe home.

Sara’s most recent work, a five song EP titled "CAKE", was released in October 2005. The EP, which features five of Sara's newer songs, was recorded in Austin by Michael Shay. Ben Wright of the critically acclaimed band d numbers also plays on the record. The CD was a natural next step for Sara, demonstrating the influence of Austin on her sound, and creative partnerships with the musicians she met while living there.

As she happily adjusts to life in Southern California, Sara is already working with several local musicians, and will definitely be appearing at popular San Diego venues in the next few months.

this c.d. features beautiful vocals, and interesting lyrics. there is cool bass playing on gilfriend, and good drumming throughout. one of my "favorite" lyrics is: i don't need a deush to come clean! i know as a woman i felt that! i especially like the song illusion. sometimes this c.d. reminds me of alanis morrisette. for a first c.d. this is a good pretty steady accomplishment. i am looking forward to see how sara evolves as well as her music. good luck!

Sara's sparse, quality guitar work leaves so much room that the winds of her soul have no choice but to fill the space, and that she does very well. The world is lucky to have Sara's point of view. Let's have more of it!

Sara's songs are deeply affecting - angry, uplifting, sad... and most of all, honest. She's also surrounded herself with great musicians - this CD is a real find! Hard to decide which songs I like best - but Insects, Illusion and 24 really stand out.
