Album Notes

Hardison began in Seattle in 2000 by shawn "hardyrock" hardison with the release of Dead Comedians on Dig Records (phat sidy smokehouse, super sonic soulpimps) Hardison played a live performance on Kexp during that time and went back east to tour the south with members of Rein Sanction backing him. In 2004 he massed together a fresh band in seattle and began work on "time and cash" This album features a hiphop fusion track with Ishmael Butler of
Digable Planets and Hardison's first budget video for Kodak produced by Brian Udovich (afi emmy winner) and directed by Tarin Anderson (Decemberists 16 military wives) A west coast tour in 2005 followed the release of Time and Cash and with the same crew, they continued playing locally in Seattle before returning to the studio to record THIS. Another west coast tour is being planned for this fall.

REVIEWS

funky jazz-infused alt-rock
author: Mike Breen, freelance writer, Folio Weekly
Hardison, with THIS, have gone beyond their debut cd together, TIME AND CASH, and have produced songs that seem to have come from another time and place. Blending jazzy piano riffs, Motown funk, and modern day alt-rock with seeming ease, THIS feels like 70s classics such as, David Bowie's LOW and Roxy Music's STRANDED. Broad musical landscapes mixed with personal lyrics invite the listener in and the results are a fusion of mult-various tracks. Melodic tunes such as THE OUTSIDE LIGHTS and 54TH AND LOW are sadly beautiful; and UNCANNY VALLEY, BEVERLY BEVERLY and LEROY display the band's ability to hybrid their music into polyphonic harmony. THIS is definitely a pleasure to listen to but it is also a challenging one. HARDISON is constantly pushing the envelope of what is or isn't "alternative" rock these days; and that's a good thing.

bold, experimental, funky alt-rock
author: Mike Breen, contributing writer, Folio Weekly, Jacksonville, FL
Hardison continues to challenge his listeners with THIS, the band's fourth cd, and by far, their most experimental collection of songs; as with prior music, broad sonical landscapes intertwine with personal lyrics and the results continue to impress as with each record prior. Melodic tunes such as "The Outside Lights" and "54th and Low" flatten you out emotionally. And tracks like "LeRoy," "Uncanny Valley," and "Beverly Beverly" bring to mind David Bowie's classic hybrid record, "Low," as the band weaves pop, funk, and modern alt-rock with ease. Bowie, notwithstanding, the sound of this band is unprecedented; nothing out there really compares to it, and that is a good thing!

Tova e nai-dobriat cd koito tazi banda e napravila niakoga. Zvyka e mnogo razlichen ot predishnite im cd, no opredeleno se e podobril. Tozi cd ima bavni i zabavni pesni. Chast ot pesnite chovek dori moje da tancyva i da im se kefi. Bass kitarate e strahotna, tozi nov bassist naistina znae kak da sviri. Barbanista e mnogo dobar, ne propyske nito edin beat. Peveca ima mnogo specifichen glas, no e takav glas koito absolutno opisva chyvstvoto na Seattle, malko dajdoven i nostalgichen no i malko vesel i luboven. Pianista e strahoten, toi e mnogo dobar i pianoto napravo pee v negovite race. Cialata banda e super i se nadiavam skoro da izkarat nov album. Celyvki na vsichkite momcheta {}{}{}{}.
