ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Seize the Year" is more than a title. It's a mantra on how to live life as told through the eyes of Hard Soul front-man Johnny Salka. The follow-up to Hard Soul's 2012 debut EP "Love Eats the Young" which was a collection of songs that explored the meaning of love, yearning, loss and redemption, "Seize the Year" carries on the same tradition of exploring the human experience while delivering hard hitting music as the backdrop. Recorded during the summer and fall of 2012 at Four Legs Records in Washingtonville, NY "Seize the Year" features five new Hard Soul tunes crafted by lead vocalist and guitarist Johnny Salka that delve into his desire to first understand and then make his way in the world, and to show others how to do the same. While "Seize the Year" was recorded and ordered to be experienced as one piece of music, each song stands on their own, representing both the emphasis on the songwriting craft while delving into the different perspectives on how each person can reach out and grab hold of their life before it passes them by.
