Harley String Band is: Three talented singer-songwriters who mine the deep veins of American music and bring back the occasional rough diamond. Supporting each other on a wide variety of acoustic instruments, they aspire to breathe new life and fresh ideas into traditional musical forms. All three band members have won honors in the prestigious Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Contest.
Their new CD, Didn’t Come to Stay Long elaborates on the “sin and misery” theme the band is known for. “Guantanamo,” which has been featured on NPR stations, is a subversive volley in the culture war. “The Pride of the White Star Line” represents a classic folk telling of the sinking of the Titanic, while “Living Lives Apart” provides a weirdly upbeat take on divorce. In contrast, “Thank You for Calling PizzaCo” offers a humorous perspective on privacy rights.

Best CD from an Largely Unknown Group
author: Mick Jarl
As a rabid folk music listener from the 1960s to the present, I've pretty much listened to it all. That's why I'm so bowled over by the music of the Harley String Band. In fact, as a performer myself, I love their music so much that I've taken the time to learn almost all their songs. Not only do I own their CD, I own a number of their CDs and often give them out as gifts to my music loving friends. I vote the Harley String Band as the best folk music group you probably have never heard.
