HARMONIC CONVERGENCE
Featuring:
Alan Peterson Sharon McCann Lon Jones
Eclectic singer/songwriter acoustic/electric music!
Engaging, uplifting, humorous, and thought-provoking, the music of Harmonic Convergence reflects the accumulated talent, wit, and wisdom of three seasoned northwest musicians. Acoustic guitar, mandolin, and a sensitive Stratocaster support intelligent vocals with compelling three part harmonies. Rhapsodizes one fan, " Ah, the harmonies! The harmonies!" Songwriters and performers Alan Peterson and Lon Jones evoke the human condition in it's many phrases: emotional, a little political, a little spiritual and sometimes downright quirky. Vocalist Sharon McCann enthralls listeners with her rich contralto voice, described by one listener as "... just like fudge!"
The CD includes 4 original songs by Alan Peterson, including the inspirational "At Any Given Moment" a song that sprang complete during a journaling session while studing "The Artists Way" by Julia Cameron, "Goodbye To Innocence" an old style song about the struggle to find love, "Spender In The Grass", inspired by an afternoon encounter with the movie of the same name, and "A Deal With the Devil" a song inspired by a news account Alan heard a couple of years ago about areas of the ocean being filled with plastic. The account said the fish were full of these “particles “ which make up the building blocks of plastic and the areas in the sea were cluttered with the stuff. Alan found the story shocking and quickly set about writing a song and waiting for the next news story about it. Needless to say he never heard another word regarding that important story.
Alan Peterson released his first CD "World In Love" (www.alanpeterson.net) in 1999 and has traveled throughout the Pacific Northwest singing and playing his original songs as well as performing rock, country and blues with various bands in the greater Portland area. Sharon McCann is an accomplished singer whose contralto has been heard throughout the Northwest singing jazz, Irish, classical and sacred music with some of the top musicians in the area. Lon Jones has recently released his latest CD "When The Moon Comes Down For Tea" (www.cdbaby.com/cd/lonjones) and has been a professional musician for 28 years in the Portland area. His styles are jazz, rock and roll, blues, country, bluegrass, folk, cartoon, impressionist, cubist, avant garde, aardvark, polka, waltzes, Zappa-Welk-Hicks fusion, and barking dogs.
"Harmonic Convergence, Alan Peterson, Lon Jones, and Sharon McCann, have quietly been establishing a sterling reputation in the Northwest for their performances of their original music........featuring pristine three part vocals."

"[Harmonic Convergence has] intelligence in both lyrics and musicianship. You must listen closely to the nuances of their lyrics to catch the symbols and word-play; you must pay closer attention to the interplay of instruments to fully appreciate how great these folks are."

Just what I was hunting for.....
author: ConnieI was hunting for the lyrics to SCATTER ME which is a great song for a casual but meaningful memorial. I am now enjoying the entire CD. CD Baby personnel were prompt and entertaining.
Inspirational Good Fun!
author: Laura Handke JonesThe "harmonic convergence" of the voices, message in the music, and upbeat attitude of the selections, make this CD a "keep in your car" one - listen and enjoy!
Reaching for the stars with out stretching
author: Patrick WoodsLive music recording is where you catch the spirit of this band's joy. The quality of the recording and the bit of applause makes you feel like you are there or remember the times you were. Reaching for the stars with out stretching and falling down with out skinning your knees spells freedom for these veterans.
