Album Notes

Harmon's Peak is a hard working old-time band in the San Francisco Bay Area -- for bookings, please visit our website: www.harmonspeak.com

The music on this album has its origins in various parts of the American South and East - a muddy mix of musical streams, mostly from Ireland, Scotland, England and Africa - and most of it was popular around the time of the Civil War (though some of it was old even then). One of the common names for this kind of music is "old-timey," and though it's easily forgotten in the din of the latest flavor of canned music - or confused with its more commercial cousins, bluegrass and Country Western - it's still a part of our musical heritage, the soundtrack of our roots.

We worked up most of this music sitting around eating and drinking, talking, and laughing, and recorded it at the studio of a good friend. As you listen to it, we hope you'll be able to imagine you're sitting on a porch somewhere, in one century or another. The night is comfortably warm, and you really don't have anything to do but rock in your chair and enjoy the company of a few good friends and listen to some tunes. That's certainly the way it feels to us.
