Album Notes

The album "At Fox Meadow" is a collection of violin and piano music from America's gilded age. Composers featured are Walter Damrosch, Arthur Whiting and Frederick Converse, all of whom were respected and well-known in their day. The Damrosch Sonata should be a welcome addition to the violinists' repertoire.

It reflects the composer's German background and is given a bravura performance by SilverWood violinist Elliott Marko. The Whiting Polonaise is delightful as is the Converse Suite with its beautiful slow movement. Pianist Mary Jane Rupert gives a sensitive performance in this recording of three American treasures. "At Fox Meadow" as well as SilverWood's CD "Dawn," deserve attention and should be in every serious collector's library.
