Harpoon Missile will leave their mark on the world of hip-hop when they release their debut album, Boy Interrupted, early in 2002. The three-man team of MC Harpoon, producer Rahmel, and stage rage Warchild, are known for their adrenalized sounds - Hip-hop influences with an infusion of rock aggression similar to Fishbone, Rage against the Machine, and Bad Brains. Harpoon, Rahmel and Warchild's style explores the limits of the world of hip-hop in creating a vibe like none other. They have a reputation for delivering a live show that is out of this world - always a theatrical event that can at any time include them as alternative personalities, ranging from characters of the street to warriors on the battlefield.
"The Harpoon Missile is hot and ready for launch." - Warchild
Producer Rahmel brought Harpoon Missile together. "Hip Hop is how people live in Brampton," claims Rahmel. "It's like Cleveland, like Houston, like Compton, one of those places you never expect hip-hop to come from."
"Labeled as outcasts, strange cats, we come from the Children of the corn." - Warchild
Going into the studio to record the tracks that would become the backbone for their debut album, like "Melbosha", "A-Z" and "Another Day", word soon got out into the urban music community, and a copy managed to find it's way into the hands of Little X, the famous Toronto raised music video director (Destiny's Child, R Kelly, Nelly, Sisqo, DMX and Redman). Having grown up in the same hood as the Harpoon crew, and feeling the sound of "Melbosha", Little X wanted to get involved. The result is an engaging, scary, yet smirk-producing video that completely steps away of the typical hip-hop video template of girls, money and cars.
"It's real, it is the past and the future." - Warchild
