RE: Yes and Thank you

John,
Thank you for getting back to me.I saw you and your band play a
couple times, once at UCI [May 1rst, '69 w/Led Zepplin] and at
the San Andreas Boogie? [Actually the Palm Strings Pop
Festival, April 1rst, '69] The experience has never worn thin
on my consciousness. Your recent album sounds down and dirty in
the best of ways. Are there any film clips of Hard Luck Boy?
Good Luck on all your endeavors and i hope this communique
finds you healthy and smiling. Alejandro Escovedo

WHAT DO YOU NEED?

This recording reflects living. From the isolation suggested in the title track to through the true love expressed in "Gone Tomorrow" or the nasty lust of
"Cheatin' On Jesus"--this CD is about living.
Harrelson assembled a group of songs that summon "Beggar's Banquet" and "Let It Bleed" on one hand and "Honky Tonk Masquerade" and "Car Wheels On a Gravel Road," too.
John Harrelson is a Bluesman first. This CD, though, is not any kind of traditional Blues. You can hear Mississippi and Chicago inside of "Pony Run" and "Honky Tonk Moon"
but there's a lot of the California desert here, too. Dry and isolated.
And two slices of the Louisiana bayou. Both are celebrations of that "Cajun thang."
Some Hillbilly revenge and some straight-talk that so many yearn to hear.

Jeff Ross [Rank & File, Hellecasters, Desert Rose Band, William Clarke] serves up some of his fantastic guitar playing. The Moultrie Sisters and some of the
Sugar Mountain Mama Serenade add backing vocals. And Harrelson brings true stories to you.

This is the third in a trilogy of CDs that are currently avilable from Harrelson. "Streets of Heart and Lust" and "Feral Angel" are here at CDBaby also.

just got back from sturgis, south dakota, after a 15hr drive, loaded some of john's music on my ipod... while cruisin through the blackhills i would hear one of johns tunes on my shuffleplay along with the allman bros, mark-almond band, rollin stones, keith urban, on and on... ...it was amazing how good his music sounds, the clarity of his guitar work, sometimes i would forget who the artist was and would remember thats "harrelson".... this album "mojave" is a must for any rock n'roll/blues affecianado... i highly recommend it.... harley dude

Absolutely the best Blues album in the last 10 years!!!

"Masterpiece!" That's what word recalls the first listening of "John Harrelson: Mojave". Repeated listenings offer the depth that only John Harellson can produce. Nods from early Stones, Muddy Waters (w/ J. Winter), Texas Blues, Zydeco, 60's Folk-Country and the modern artists repertoire abound. JWH doesn't copy though...he takes it further. Further than anyone thought possible. Again, if your fan of great songwriting, guitar virtuosity, solid soulfull vocals or just a dammn good blues record....you'll love this album!!!

Mohave is a musical sandstorm

This album allows no "casual observers." Listening is hardcore voyeurism. It's a front row seat to the artist's eperiences - the good , the bad and the downright ugly. John Harrelson's voice isn't the sound of fingernails on a chalkboard, it's razorblades on your heart, it's rough, but so is life and when he sings, you bleed with him - even on the "up tunes." John's recollections of happier times just make you feel like you're trapped in purgatory rather than Hell. If this doesn't sound like a rave review, you've got it all wrong. I need my music to scratch the itches I can't reach, and Mojave scratches hard.
