A little of this, a little of that. Some old songs, some new songs, some traditional tunes, some new tunes. It's folk-y, it's sophisticated, it's a capella harmonies, it's voice with autoharp and bass accompaniment.

Album Notes

My daughters Sharon and Rebecca grew up singing with me in the car. It was just what we did, and no family trip was complete without interesting music to sing along to. Early on that meant Raffi and the like, but as their tastes became more sophisticated, John McCutcheon, Tom Chapin, Lou and Peter Berryman and Bill Staines joined us on those trips. When Rebecca was nine, I started playing the autoharp and began taking her with me to festivals and workshops. It wasn’t long before she fell in love with the bass and quickly became a fine rhythm player. So I invited her to sing and play with me on stage, and for the last five years, we’ve taken our car-singing out and shared it with our musical friends and family. Rebecca’s now seventeen, so it seemed like a good idea to capture this all-too-short moment in time by recording some of the music we like to perform together and even a few autoharp solos that we like.

This recording is dedicated in memory of Rebecca’s grandmothers, Lore Heath, who died before we started performing together, and Dolores Harris, who was severely affected by Alzheimer’s before she got to hear us perform. They would have been thrilled to hold this CD in their hands.
