Album Notes

The Jewish women’s band, Ayelet HaShachar, performs original Jewish music by women for women. The trio, featuring Lisa Aronson Friedman, Shalomis Koffler Weinreb, and Stephanie Rabinowitz, is known for its inspiring, strengthening original songs, tight three-part vocal harmonies and melodic guitar and piano arrangements. The band draws on a lifetime’s worth of experience and musical backgrounds that include folk, classical, musical theatre, Jewish music and jazz.

“Our hope, our dream, our prayer is to be able to reach Jewish women and girls from all walks of Jewish life to open their hearts and souls to connect to their spiritual and cultural heritage.”

Lisa, on keyboards and vocals, is a classically-trained pianist, and composer, and as a student at Oberlin College, sung with the Oberlin College Chorus.

Shalomis, on guitar, congas and vocals, has been a professional musician and composer most of her adult life, including producing and recording her own CDs (as Shelley Koffler), as well as touring nationally and internationally.

Stephanie, on vocals and guitar, studied voice, theatre, and movement at New York's Circle-in-the Square Studio, and worked in theatre in New York City and Baltimore.
