Album Notes

Mike Hatch - Pentimento

About the Artist: Mike Hatch

Mike Hatch is a guitarist that is known for creating excellent ambiance music, for fine dining, cocktail parties, weddings, or just plain listening. As a veteran player of more than thirty years, Hatch easily weaves his way around a montage of musical genres, including popular, contemporary, rock, country, jazz, classical, delta blues, slide guitar, and slack key.

Hatch, who can be hard on numerous albums, has also worked with many groups in and around the Tucson area: The Saddle City Band, The Jadi Norris Band, and Chuck Wagon and the Wheels; which later toured the west coast bay area. With these groups, he has opened for Clint Black, Toby Keith, Clay Walker, Andy Griggs, Aaron Tippin, Billy Ray Cyrus, Elvin Bishop, Buddy Holly's Original Crickets, and Asleep at the Wheel.

When Hatch was with The Saddle City Band, the group one two Tammies in 1993 and 1994 as Best Country and Bluegrass Band. They also recorded the popular album, "The Tucson Album".

About the Album: "Pentimento"

Veteran Tucson guitarist Mike Hatch's first solo album is a collection of acoustic guitar instrumentals with a lush, full sound. According to Hatch, 10 of the 11 songs are original compositions. "A lot of these tunes have been rolling around in my head for a long time. They are filled with underlying messages; images that have come and gone throughout my life," commented Hatch.

In fact, thats why Hatch says he chose the name 'Pentimento' for the album. It is a term art historians meaning a underlying image, such as an earlier painting or an original draft, that resurfaces if the covering pigment fades.

Indeed, Hatch's album, recorded and mixed by Bill Cashman at the Cavern Recording Studios in Tucson, is filled with images; subtle nuances and cascading harp-like rolls and bass lines. The result is relaxing and soothing to the soul. "Pentimento" is available at Borders, Barnes and Noble, Hear's Music, and Bookmans in the Tucson area.

When the Tucson Citizen reviewed "Pentimento", they gave the album it's highest rating, SCORCHING!!!.

Fantastic! Love it! Highly recommend!

The music Mike has put on this cd is phenomenal. He gives you a little of every emotion, every high and low, but not so much you o.d. on it. It entices you, takes you in, floats you along.... absolutely beautiful. And very original, not the same old boring guitar stuff a million other guys are putting out these days. Mike's music has its own voice and claims its own place in the universe.

I challenge anyone to point out a better instrumental guitar performance than this...flawless execution (without being robotic), soulful (without being contrived), very well paced, dangerously relaxing (especially if you are in a hot tub).....these melodies will remain with you for life, and the kicker is that it is way under-priced!!!!!............GET THIS CD NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
