Album Notes

Hathor's Sister believes that nature should be befriended. When we surround ourselves with natural beauty or uplifting elements, they complement and balance our lives, thus invoking a presence of well-being. Such an environment, filled with music and objects of art which inspire us, will improve our disposition and our health. We aspire to create music that has this affective potential.
Art and nature have been intertwined throughout history. The symbolism of four elements pervades both. These archetypes are imprinted on the human consciousness. We are deeply moved by them. We have a fascination with symbolism, which largely shapes our internal process. The element of mystery prevails in our work. Our creative process is a life long search using the language of art and music to explore the depth of the enigma called life. For Hathors Sister this is a metaphysical exploration.
Marta and Nina work in many media. Hathor's Sister is a collaborative project which adapted some of Nina Pak's poetry for musical compositions created by Marta Wiley. It is an experiment with voice, using mantras; and various instruments and objects to make sound, Which brings an unusual, haunting flavour to the music. Vocals are by Marta Wiley and Nina Pak, with an occasional guest performer.

REVIEWS

'Queen of Hearts' is one of the most prized CDs in my collection.

This record rests the soul, sending the listener through magical spaces. I can't stop playing it. The voices and sentiments of Marta and Nina are so strong, they shine through with all the courage of artists who define their own style.

Queens of Hearts unveils the hearts of women through music.
author: Patricia Ridenour
Hathors Sister has invented a new form of music, which I call Goddess Rap. It combines the spoken word in a feminine rhythm that comes from the heart. I put this CD on, closed my eyes and let it wash over me. Afterwards I felt as if I had taken a journey through the archetypal heart of women. Mysterious, diverse, and full of yearning.

Philosophical in nature, the lyrics are lovely deep snares...

Gorgeous music... There is such an energy moving through it. The exploration of archetypes can be found here. Philosophical in nature, the lyrics are lovely deep snares... giving pause, and making me think... wow, I've never seen it in that light. Very few people in music today are making that kind of impact, which is why I highly reccomend this amazing piece of art.
