sweet elegance
author: John Book; music for America
While Nikka Costa should be familiar to some, a new singer named Havana has a lot of potential to be on the tip of your tongue as well. She’s just released a single on Skoolcraft/Kajmere, “Shine” b/w “Tangled”, and there’s a sweet elegance in her voice that shows class and strength, as well as beauty (and that was before I even saw her bio photo!). In other words, a very sexy voice that makes you want to hear more and more. I’m curious to see how she performs this and other material live. On wax though (as well as a CD single), the two songs were produced by Nicolay, who puts a lot of other producers to shame. Keep Havana busy and hopefully she’ll come out with a full length in the near future.
