Album Notes

Some fancy press quotes about the HCG's:

"You could compare 'em to a bunch of other groups, from Black Sabbath to Emma Peel, but these are only the loosest of reference points since HCG don't appear to be imitating anyone (rare these days) and instead seem to be working out their nightmares, which come with their own private-hell soundtracks."
-- Falling James, Carbon 14, May 2004

"Harkening back to the days when tough-girl bands ... proved that the female of the species could sound just as dirty and carcinogenic as their male counterparts, New Orleans' Hazard County Girls could scare the hot pants off modern-day groups such as The Donnas and Sahara Hotnights." -- Bellingham (WA) Herald, Aug. 2003

Hazard County Girls....have yet to receive their just due as one of New Orleans' finest flat out rock groups in recent memory...Never No More establishes itself as the one to beat for best local rock album of the year, and Hazard county Girls as one of the brightest lights on the city's murky scene...
Ira Brooker Where Y'at April 2003

"Never No More, produced by punk/metal
über-producer Daniel Rey, is a frightening example,
if merely a surface scratch, of Hazard County Girls' mettle....the HCGs are doing it all, with aplomb and seemingly little effort. They're a helluva band.... "
Randy Harward Salt Lake City Weekly Aug. 2003

"The Girls...were at once a nostalgic throwback to the birth of punk-rock and a welcome harbinger of hope that the torch may yet be passed to a new generation. No other band that I've seen in over a decade seems more worthy and likely to lead the charge. "
Seth Rogovoy Berkshire Eagle on April 7, 2003

"Sweet girls, great feedback, a heavy sound that sorta suggests Flannery O'Connor if she had been raised on Sonic Youth."
Troy Moon Pensacola news Journal June 2003

An OK disc

The CD is all right, but not spectacular - I found the songs to be a bit repetitive (they started to sound the same halfway through the album). Not too bad, but not that great either.

I first saw this band back in Febuary of this year when they were opening up for Hank Williams III. I really enjoyed there show but didn't get to pick up there CD so I ordered it and instantly fell in love with it. This album really captures the sound of there live show and now if CD Baby will start selling there Twin Oaks EP I'll definately be ordering it as well.
