Album Notes

HC Derksen has been singing in quartets and choirs for more than 30 years. As his schedule allowed, he began work on his first cd, "Miracles" writing words and music. It was released in August of 2004. All but one of the songs on the current album are original compositions. Toward the end of the album, HC has included a message of hope for the listener.

Inspiration for the songs came from life itself. The title song Miracles came as a result of people HC had met or known about, who had genuinely experienced events in their lives that could not be answered in any way other than an interaction with God. Other songs were meant to remind those that call themselves Christian to live their lives as Jesus would want them to, realizing that so many times people are turned away from the faith by those Sunday Christians. Still other songs speak of help for this life and hope for the life to come.
HC is an avid motorcycle enthusiast and through his riding found an association of motorcycle riders that seemed to be in it for more than just the fun of riding. CMA, short for Christian Motorcyclists Association based in Hatfield, Arkansas is active in reaching out to the cycling world. They ride in poker runs, serve at rallies, minister to and help people on the highways of the nation. HC and his wife, Barbara, ride up to 12,000 miles annually, the majority with a focus toward CMA, but always with a heart toward ministry.
HC has presented his brand of music to motorcycle rallies of all kinds, music festivals, churches, woman's groups, and banquets. It is not unusual to hear women say that his voice is pure velvet. Others will say that his style and voice are easy listening. One of his favorite songs is The Star Spangled Banner. He often speaks to others about the true gift they have in this great land.

HC is now working on his second album of original music, scheduled for release in April, 2005.

Future plans are always prefaced by "if the Lord wills" and include events involving CMA throughout the summer, several music festivals, concerts, personal appearances, and a Christmas cd for release by October 2005.
