Introduced to each other by Idaho singer/songwriter Muzzie Braun, Marc Kottraba (guitar) and Dave Muscavage (mandolin) have been performing their style of bluegrass / folk music for over 12 years. As the Headwaters Band they provide entertainment in a variety of locales throughout Southern Idaho and are regular performers at Redfish Lake Lodge and The Bridge Street Grill in Stanley. The Headwaters Band also provides lively music at local pubs, private parties, festivals and weddings in Stanley, the Ketchum, Sun Valley area, Twin Falls, and Boise. You may even hear their foot stompin’ blend of bluegrass/folk music as opening entertainment for national touring acts such as the Sam Bush Band.
From John Prine to John Hiatt, Lester Flatt to Paul Simon, from Hot Rize to Cream, Headwaters' music blurs the line between several styles of music. Their music is traditional, contemporary, fresh, and spontaneous. The guitar rhythm may sound familiar, The mandolin chops might remind you of that bluegrass festival last summer, but you will quickly realize there is something a little different the first time you hear the Headwaters Band. Tim O'Brien's self-description of his Odd Man In CD may best describe Headwaters' music. ".....walking-the-line-between-several-genres acoustic music that rocks a bit, but you understand the words."
It's Bluegrass/Folk with an Edge!

"I would be pleased to offer a few comments on Headwaters newest offering, Uncommon Threads. Finding a spot on the jukebox at the Stanley Kasino Club is never an easy task, but we were excited about adding this album to our play list. It fits in comfortably among our covers of Del McCoury, Steve Earle, Natalie MacMaster and Sharon Shannon, among others. Headwaters thoughtful and intelligent production work blended with sweet harmonies and complex melodies make for beautiful versions of classic, modern and original songs. My only question is when we can expect a new album; I have a slot open on the juke reserved just for them
