Hearts & Thieves rock. It’s what they do.
Hailing from central Connecticut, this four piece hard rock band effortlessly blends the melodic sensibility of yesteryear with the high-octane energy and crushing power of the contemporary music scene. Key changes, harmonized guitars, time signatures that challenge the standard 4/4, solos worth a damn (not just the vocal melody played on a guitar) and lyrics that are more than cliche rhyming couplets posing as the profound- that is what Hearts & Thieves is all about.
Side One is the band's first studio recording and it provides a snapshot of the group's formative years: "Honesty (She Ought to Know)" and "Dog." were the first songs ever written by Hearts & Thieves, and both showcase the fledgling band's desire to create songs that felt familiar, yet still sounded original and new. It's not possible to capture the full energy and passion of Hearts & Thieves' live performance, but tracks such as the always-in-motion "Midnight Woman" and the dynamic and flowing "Shakedown" come as close as any. From the hair-metal leanings of opening track "My Serpentine" to the final opus that is "The Chainsaw Revival": a study in straight-up hard rock attitude, the EP is both a nod to the wonderful and diverse history of Rock 'n' Roll, and an affirmation of its future.
