Album Notes

Meet Heath Allen, Philadelphia's resident jazz genius. A pianist of unfailing taste and beauty, and -- most important -- the greatest jazz composer ever to ply his trade in the City Of Brotherly Love.

RED/BLUE... SHIFT was commissioned in 1997 as a dance piece by choreographer Karen Bamonte, who probably expected great things but could not possibly have figured on a work of such invention and scope.

RB...S incorporates jazz, film score, international music, and few things we don't yet have names for into a work of ireefutable genius. Period.

This reissue restores to circulation the best jazz record ever to come out of Philadelphia.
