Heather Perkins makes music and sound for love, and for a living. "Little Humans" is the first CD release on the Land-O-Newts label.

The first 13 tracks on "Little Humans" have been selected from scores that Heather has created over the past seven years for Portland Oregon's community of choreographers, performance artists and filmmakers: music for a darkened room. Music inspired by communal experiences of a shared, fleeting reality made with sound, light, movement, images, and bodies in space.

Track 14 of the CD, "Waiting Becomes Not Waiting," is an open call for collaboration - dancers, visual artists and filmmakers are invited to create new work based on this song, and send it in to Heather via landonewts.com.

Land-O-Newts began as a living room studio and cassette label in 1987, with a Tascam 4-track, a Casio SK1, a cheap microphone, and a dream. Over many years and over a dozen cassette releases, Heather and Land-O-Newts traded tapes with people all over the world.

Although Heather Perkins has said goodbye to tape hiss and embraced digital technology, the heart of Land-O-Newts still beats the same way. Heather also runs WaterDog Studio, a commercial music and sound design studio.

Keep an ear out for this special brand of home made music - nerdcore, electro-acoustic nature-beat, electronica, and the oddly normal pop songs that occasionally haunt Heather's dreams. And stay tuned for the next CD: "Telekinesis Nanette," which is slated for an early 2009 release.
