"Heaven knows: An Atlanta vocalist updates R&B for a new millennium."

On this 14 track, nearly hour long disc, Davis shows she's one of the best Southern R&B singers on the scene. Steamy finds her comfortable in a variety of genres rooted in the muggy, sweaty grit of '60's soul. Imagine a singer who combines the guts of Ann Peebles, the country sensuality of Shelby Lynne, the you-done-me-wrong sass of Millie Jackson, the strut of Betty Wright, the sensitivity of Gladys Knight, and the pipes of Mavis Staples. Davis traffics in music reminiscent of all of those legends while never sounding like any of them.
It's a stunning statement from an artist who has obviously paid her dues. They do still make 'em like they used to.

HAL HOROWITZ - Blues Review

Effusive blues diva Heaven Davis checks in with a collection of righteous and raucous wailin' on the aptly titled Steamy. Davis helms the proceedings with the relaxed assurance of Aretha Franklin and the street smarts of KoKo Taylor.

Throughout the set, blistering and blustery blues remains the framework and the seed, and the record rocks and sways in all the right places. (Martin) Kearns' production is especially impressive, and sounds as sharp and focused as a big-budget, major-label release, while it retains all the down-home appeal of a scrappy indie. Alligator Records would kill for something this good.

Georgia Music Magazine

Heaven Davis has no history with the middle class white fans of blues music. Her lack of presence is going to hurt her ability to get fans to pay attention to such an impressive album. Able to sing AND carry a tune, Davis walks through 14 songs including a comedic one she wrote entitled, 'Sell My Jewelry.' The second track on the album, 'Daydreaming 'Bout You' has the stylings of a mid-60's soul song. While the temptation to draw a wider .... audience is ever present, Davis' keeps a working class R n' B sound that is tasty and accomplished. She is clearly comfortable within her own skin. Davis' song, "Regrets" is vintage Glady's Knight and exceptional.

If you enjoy Otis Redding's "Sitting on the Dock of the Bay" more than Michael Bolton's then chances are quite strong you are going to immediately "get" Heaven Davis' sound. Yes, it's a purists flavor and you know I usually stray far from that restraint but in this case Davis has the goods and delivers them in full.

"Vocalist Heaven Davis is based in Georgia"... "but on this outing she sounds like a natural-born daughter of the Gulf Coast. Her keening soprano wail evokes a more robust Shirley Goodman." . . . "Davis sounds like she is spinning her tales from atop a bar stool in a juke in Houston's Third Ward or a backstreet Austin roadhouse. " "Fatback horns, burnished organ swashes and sanctified-girl choirs contribute appropriately soulful seasonings throughout." " Heaven Davis has already become popular overseas - much of her touring in support of this disc will be in Europe-but she has yet to make much of a name for herself in the U.S. Let's hope this disc helps"

ABOUT HEAVEN DAVIS

Heaven recently completed a tour of France and England to promote her new CD 'Steamy', where she left the crowds on their feet screaming for more. Rightfully titled the new CD has 14 hot cuts of blues and soul. Other recordings include a solo CD "Heaven Davis Live", 3 singles with one of the singles, "You Are My Sunshine", landing in the top 10 of the Beach and Boogie Charts and stayed there for over 15 months. She has also appeared on 4 compilation CD's including The Back Porch Blues Festivals 1 and 2 and a variety of duets on other artists' albums.

Heaven has been singing since she was a little girl performing for her grandmother, she sang in her church choir but could not find her niche. She states that this is her way of saying. "They threw me out! I had (and still do) a big mouth, would not remain in the choir stand, and blending in with the chorus was out of the question. It just didn't work." That didn't stop her. Through her early years Heaven performed in a number of Funk, R&B and Pop bands discovering she loved all types of music. Heaven says that her aim is to do a song with a feeling that allows all of the influences to flow through.

Heaven was pinned with the name "Wildchild" by a group of students at Georgia Tech's WREK Radio Station where she was co-host and founder of the "Lady Katherine's Big Booty Power House Blues Show" in honor of all female blues performers.

Heaven has sung with Buddy Guy, Walter Trout, Bob Margolin, Kenny Neal, E.G. Kight, Anthony Gomes, Sean Costello and many others. They all agree she's one hell of a performer and there's definitely only one... Heaven 'Wildchild' Davis.
You don't want to miss her!

Heaven explores the hot, humorous and heartfelt sides of love in her CD, Steamy.

After hearing Heaven "Wild Child" Davis perform at Blind Willies in Atlanta a few weeks ago, I had to get her CD, Steamy. She is a fabulous entertainer and has a beautiful voice. This soulful music explores the hot, humourous and heartfelt sides of love. Heaven gets to the core of your being by singing about relationship issues that we've all had to deal with at one time or another. This album rocks! I look forward to the release of her next CD.
