The Gospel Stage Strong
With “Better Days”


Greetings to all who may view these words. This article was written to announce the arrival of an awesome new gospel-recording project. Sly Vann and Heaven’s Octave new project “Better Days” is now available. If you love gospel music, if you like gospel music, or if you don’t even care for gospel music, you’re gonna love the refreshing new sound of Sly Vann and Heaven’s Octave. Folks, we’re talking about a family group without a record deal, without corporate backing, and without financial influence that has achieved an amazing feat in the music business.

Moving forward with only God’s favor to embrace the endeavor Sly Vann and Heaven’s Octave was formed in 2005. Writers Sly Vann, Derrek Croney, and Lynnette Vann then joined forces with the Wizard himself, Minister Denver A. Wright, and set forth on an original recording project that came to be known as “Better Days”.

The songs on this project (“Better Days”) all have one thing in common. They are all God sent with a message in each song for his children. THE BATTLE just began and there may be TROUBLE IN MY WAY. I’ VE BEEN STRUGGLING and MANY A NIGHT I cried, but its ALRIGHT it was only GOD’S WILL. I FOUND GOD ONE DAY while praying to HEAVEN. I said God I’m doing THE VERY BEST I CAN and I’ll let NOTHING SEPARATE ME I need you RIGHT AWAY. And along came BETTER DAYS.

A wise man once said take the first step no more….no less….and the rest will be revealed. In other words don’t sit down on God. No matter how difficult or uncomfortable the first step may be, take it, and God will do the rest. The CD project “Better Days” and this very article are both evidence of this key principle.

It is my distinct pleasure to present to you the members of Heaven’s Octave at this time: Elder Matt Vann, Jr. (bass), Lynnette “Momma” Vann (soprano), Sherry Vann (soprano), Angela Matthews (soprano), Tomeka Hill (alto), Shanna Vann-Hall (alto), Anthony Jackson (tenor), Dwight Walker (tenor), Laneal Burney (featured vocalist, tenor). I would also like to pay tribute to Elder Matt Vann, Jr. whose Sun set on May 10, 2006. Elder Vann was an inspiration to the lives of so many people on the local, state, and federal level. More importantly, he was a wise man who understood the purpose of praise and worship. His insight afforded many others the freedom to praise God in spirit and in truth. Most importantly Elder Vann’s legacy will live on forever in the vocal archives of this project and in the hearts and minds of Sly Vann and Heaven’s Octave.

Ladies and Gentlemen this album speaks for itself. Sly Vann and Heaven’s Octave is here sent from God to usher “Better Days” into your lives. God makes no mistakes, choose to hear what God has in store for you, choose to handle the call God has placed over your life, and choose to go forward because “Better Days” are coming your way.
