Matthew Hebert has been a pivotal part of the Northampton, Massachusetts music scene since his arrival in 1992. With songwriting that flows effortlessly like the emotional content therein, Hebert has irrefutably earned his place among well know luminaries as one-time residents of the Pioneer Valley, (i.e.: Joe Pernice, Lou Barlow and David Berman). The beauty
of Hebert's compositions is defined by well-placed lyrics over bitter-sweet chords, delivering with a rasp as comforting as the melody itself. He has toured the U.S. many times over with his band, Ware River Club, and he has supported such artists as Emmy Lou Harris, Bob Mould, Daniel Johnston and Richard Buckner. Hebert was voted best singer/songwriter in the Valley
Advocate's 2004 Reader's Poll. He is crrently preparing for the national release of his first solo full-length CD's in May 2005, Sugar on the Edge.

One of the best Songwriters around!
author: John Nolan - New York City
I've been a big fan of Matt Hebert's since first hearing him on XM Radio over a year ago. His latest album, Sugar on the Edge, represents his most thoughtful work to date. While there is a certain "darkness" to his songs, there is sometimes the promise of hope. Each piece is like a complete Short Story, in the literary sense, and there is often a surprise ending. Matt speaks to places in the heart that we've all been, and yet does so in a unique voice. Sugar on the Edge is the work of a talented man. You will LOVE this album and look forward to more.
