Album Notes

"Spencer moves from whisper to breathy purr to high lonesome and back with control and an idiosyncratic phrasing that makes her unique." -Brian Kenney, Vital Source

"...it is impossible to belittle "the Luck we made" by pigeonhole-ing it into any one catagory. Track to track, the record remains constant in a pure, acoustic style, yet, melodies both abstract and upfront combine for a sound that is as alluring as it is genuine." -Lane Klozier, Maximum Ink

with guest appearances by Bill Curis, Dave Gelting, Renee Patt, Hugh Masterson, Matt Hendricks, Ryan Weber, melaniejane, Sigmund Snopek III, Dan Fischer, Janet Schiff, Jason Wietlispach, and Llysa Spencer.

"Spencer, in a rock star stance and punk demeanor, collapses the confines of her own genre with a performance that is raw and captivating..."

"the Milwaukee unrock star, anti-egomanicac of Milwaukee music..." Dave Luhrssen, Shepherd Express.

THIS ENHANCED CD includes two of Heidi's films:
"Naya Luna" and "Passenger Blues."

The most simple thing I can say is you need this album! Heidi's voice is so beautiful as is the songwriting - beautiful yet gritty and haunting. The musicians she works with on this album definetely add to the overall song structures and do so in a subtle, seamless way. I honestly was floored when I heard this, and I think I got a little teary. A real gem.

I listen to this album and I need to sit down for a while, or if I'm already sitting, then I need to stand up, unless I'm in my car, in which case I move to the right lane and turn up the volume on my car stereo. These songs affect me deeply. Heidi's voice is so sweet on the ears. Her lyrics are brave and sweet on the brain.

The Luck We Made is perfectly flawed, brilliant, and moving.

The Luck We Made is perfectly flawed, brilliant, and moving. Heidi's work continues to make my hair stand up. I can't think of any music that's done that to me in a few years
