THE HEISE BROTHERS - III: The Return of the Heise Brothers (www.theheisebrothers.com)
Coming on strong with a perfectly punchy and melodic bunch of extremely catchy and enjoyable songs, this album makes for a hugely satisfying listening experience. The robust, passionate vocals (Nelson Heise sings with tremendous brio and conviction), snappy tempos, charging beats, ringing guitars, and persistent drums keep things steady and tuneful throughout. Better still, the songwriting is pleasingly smart, thoughtful and mature, the production crisp and polished, and the arrangements tight, rich and dynamic. Plus these guys sing about religion without getting all sappy or heavy-handed about it. A real treat.

III: THE RETURN OF…THE HEISE BROS.
It is hard to explain this album. The first idea from Nelson and Robert was to write a country Christian album to take advantage of the built in market. This resulted in one song “Praise Jesus”, but they couldn’t go any further with a straight face.

During the recording process Nelson’s wife became pregnant and they had a baby girl named Paige Susan Heise, so out came the adventure-to-be songs “Call My Shoulder Your Home” and “The Presence of Paige”. The wife cannot be left out and she gets “That’s the Least I Can Do”. Where it goes after that is anybody’s guess.

“Home for the Holidays” is just another “what’s wrong with the world?” song. “African Beauty” is a part true story set in an Indiana Jones type world. “Satisfy” is an attempt to be the Beatles, while “Lemon” is an indie rock number bitching about plastic pop stars. After watching the History Channel “Swing Kids” emerged. Attempting to write some cool Tom Waits-esqe lyrics the song “Hennepin & 7th St.” came along, again part true story and part tribute to the time they spent in the Twin Cities. The finale is a song about the brothers and their hopes that they will shine bright in their deceased mother’s eyes.

So it is what it is. Joining the brothers this time around is Matt Egger, a multi-talented musician to bring some harmony to the brothers’ sound. The Hit & Mrs. drummer V. Stak (Stacie Archer) laid down about half the drum tracks while Austin Smith put down the drums for “Hennepin & 7th St.” Jon Chinn of Central City Recording Studio mastered the album, and the brothers took care of the rest. It is chapter three of the brothers’ on-going merry-go-round with life. We hope you enjoy.
