Fusing elements of David Bowie, the Cars, the Beatles and even the Ramones, Hello Operator is a band set on delivering infectious pop rock n' roll songs.
Mike started the band after a buzz-worthy EP he recorded brought him industry attention in Canada and the U.S.
His catchy retro-sounding rock songs attracted the ear of producer Arnold Lanni, who helped him put together a demo which included songs like Hot Step, So Free and Crazy.
In 2004, calling themselves GO!, Mike Condo, Evan Huson and the rest of the band got to work playing anywhere and everywhere they could until they had built up a strong local following and put together an exciting live show.
In September 2005, Mike and Evan spent time at Arnold's studio in California working with him on new songs and experimenting with new sounds and ideas hoping to push the sound of the band to a new level.
They re-named the band Hello Operator, and with a new name and a fresh approach they got off the plane in Toronto to a phone call asking them to open for Hilary Duff on her 2006 Canadian tour.
Currently, Hello Operator is in the studio recording more material. They have taken the original Lanni-produced sessions and released them as a four-song tour EP which are selling at shows and online at www.maplemusic.com.
Hello Operator has committed themselves to a constant schedule of touring and recording. They have consistently attracted attention in the media and have appeared on Much Music and been featured on e-Talk Daily and MTV Canada. They have also shared the stage with Switchfoot, Simple Plan, Mobile, Thornley, Waking Eyes, Hedley, Loverboy, Neverending White Lights, Fefe Dobson, Die Mannequin, the Miniatures, Marble Index and Immaculate Machine.
In March 2005, www.canoe.ca listed them as 1 of 12 bands to watch out for after their exciting performance at Canadian Music Week, and more recently, Hello Operator was listed as a "newsmaker" in Macleans magazine. The London Free Press called the band a "guaranteed breakthrough rock act" and the boys of Hello Operator are working hard to live up to the title in 2006.
