Album Notes

Like the Violent Femmes meeting James Brown at a Jane's Addiction reunion show, Hello Swindon come with a high energy approach to music, both in performance and on record. With the release of their third album, Pioneer Ten, Hello Swindon hope to bring their hybrid-brand of acoustic rock to more people than ever.

Formed in 1999, by singer/guitarist, Scott Semple and singer/percussionist, John Vick, Hello Swindon has had the requisite line-up changes, but with new bass player, Jeff Leece on board and long time sax player/vocalist, Todd Sisk, this band is just hitting its stride. Armed with a sweat drenched live performance that is fast-paced, furiously entertaining and often hilarious, Hello Swindon win over every audience, wherever they go, whenever they perform. Tight vocal harmonies and a musical blend of rock, blues, funk, jazz and punk allow Hello Swindon to go from straight up acoustic funk to intense, sax-soaked rock raves in nothing flat.

Pioneer Ten contains ten new songs from the band and feels very much like a live show. From the pulsating opener, "Wide Open" to the thoughtful ballad "Ferris Wheel" to the up-tempo, Latin feel of "Community," this album not only represents the best yet from this relatively young band, but it is a fun, feel good record from start to finish. Stand outs include "The Buick Hotel" a wild, Calypso-tinged ride filled with twists and turns, the Motown feel of "Pangaea" and the set closing "Washed Away," a bluesy romp that ends with "good time" lyrics and cacophonous vocal melodies set to perfect beats.

Other recordings by Hello Swindon, available on their website, www.helloswindon.com, are: Everything's Cool (2001), the first full-length album with thirteen songs featuring original members, Erich Cameron on bass and Jake Mann on sax. Loudmouth Soup (2000) a seven song EP by the original lineup with a fantastic cover of "Party At Ground Zero" by Fishbone.
