Have you ever noticed how many parables Jesus told about forgiveness, mercy and judging others? If I’m honest, they’re all pretty much aimed at getting me off my high horse so I’ll love others like He loved me!

He tells one parable about being forgiven a HUGE debt, but us being unwilling to forgive a LITTLE one. He talks about us taking the plank out of our own eye, before we try to take a speck out of someone else’s. I mean think about it… He forgives us all our sin and we turn around and act like the judge of the world! It’s crazy, but we do that!

How do I somehow forget that to be a Christian means I’m basically admitting to God and the whole world that I’m a sinner in need of forgiveness? I’m pretty much falling at His feet daily saying, “Jesus, have mercy on me!” Isn’t it more than a little strange then that I could turn around and start pointing the finger at someone else? I’m pretty sure Jesus didn’t save me so I could be the judge of the world!


Where is the love?

Why do you judge your brother,
why do you point your finger and open up your mouth
when you’ve done so much yourself?
You know you have, oh it’s true!

And why do you judge your sister?
It’s so easy to see
the speck in her eye
when all your foolish pride has just blinded you to yourself

And where is the love that Jesus taught you?
Have you so quickly forgotten it?
Oh it wouldn’t be so bad,
but he forgave you all your sins
and completely wiped them out…
and it wasn’t to make you judge of the world!

Why do you judge the world around you?
You’re so harsh and yet they're in such pain
Do you feel at all for them?
Won’t you take them by the hand
show them Jesus is the way

And why do you stand there acting oh so holy
when you know how many times you fall?
Don’t you even care at all,
that to know me means to humble yourself?
You need to humble yourself in the presence of the Lord

And where is the love that Jesus taught you?
